6 до
Предлогу до соответствуют английские to, as far as, till (until) и before. To служит главным образом для обозначения расстояния между двумя пунктами и пространственного (реже временного) предела (часто up to, down to): to cover the distance from Moscow to Baku, to read the text from page ten (up) to page fifteen. Для обозначения конечного пункта движения употребляется as far as: to go as far as the corner, to run as far as the forest. Till и его вариант until обозначают временной предел: till (until) five o'clock. Till может взаимозаменяться с to в тех случаях, когда речь идет об отрезке времени между двумя временными пунктами: from nine till (to) five, from seven till (to) ten, причем to в данном случае менее употребительно. Предлог времени before означает 'до, перед, раньше чем': до отъезда – before one's departure. Ср. он пробудет в Москве до сентября (т. е. все время вплоть до сентября) – he will stay in Moscow till September и он не уедет из Москвы до сентября (т. е. раньше, чем наступит сентябрь) – he will not leave Moscow before September.Трудности английского языка (лексический справочник).
